In a major step toward building the nation’s largest drone delivery network, Wing and Walmart announced on June 8, 2026, the addition of seven new metropolitan areas for ultra-fast drone delivery services. The new markets include Memphis, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Phoenix, San Diego, the San Francisco Bay Area, and Salt Lake City.
This planned expansion will bring the total service footprint of the Wing-Walmart partnership to nearly 20 U.S. markets, significantly broadening access to deliveries that can arrive in as little as 30 minutes. The companies have already completed over one million commercial drone deliveries together, demonstrating strong customer adoption and operational reliability. Walmart aims to establish a network of more than 270 drone delivery locations, known as Nests, by 2027, with the goal of reaching over 40 million Americans.
Heather Rivera, Wing’s chief business officer, highlighted the momentum behind the partnership, noting that drone delivery has evolved from a novelty into a service many customers rely on multiple times per week. The companies are already engaging with communities in the new markets to prepare for launches, working closely with local stakeholders and building on advanced FAA permissions that enable safe, scalable operations.
The expansion aligns with Walmart’s broader strategy to leverage technology for faster, more convenient retail delivery while reducing reliance on traditional last-mile logistics. By partnering with Wing, Walmart can offer contactless, efficient delivery of everyday items directly from participating stores to customers’ homes or designated drop-off areas. This move also underscores the growing role of autonomous drones in addressing supply chain challenges, traffic congestion, and sustainability goals in retail logistics.
As drone delivery scales across diverse regions—from coastal cities like San Diego and San Francisco to inland hubs like Memphis and Phoenix—the partnership positions both companies at the forefront of transforming how Americans receive goods. With continued regulatory support and community collaboration, this initiative is accelerating the shift toward widespread, everyday use of drone technology in retail, promising greater convenience for busy families nationwide.
